What a great start... next time make it twice as long as your writing style has a hook. Also, a minor challenge to your thesis, "every gay man in America escaping discrimination had moved to San Francisco," is a bit off -- they ran to SF for the same reason I went to ASU in the early 80's. You can figure out the reason... but here is a hint: What's another word for Pirate treasure? Give the Boyz a bit of credit. Oh, and they called SF "The City" for a reason! Well done. Looking forward to the next allottment of memories to be conveyed.
